In 2000 this 30 acre site was acquired in partnership with Deutsche bank. This site was a former brick refractory
lying between the River Colne and the campus for the University of Essex. Once again the site was fully remediated
and planning permission was obtained for a 100,000 ft B&Q store, 800 student accommodation units for
the University of Essex and 400 private residential dwellings. The store was let to B&Q on a 25 year lease and
developed the student accommodation wassold on to the University of Essex via a pre sale agreement. The remainder of
the land was sold to Barratts PLC which completed the total regeneration this strategic site to the East of Colchester.
